Ancestor of David Reed
My great, great, grandfather was Silas Dobbs who served in the 63rd
Georgia Heavy Artillery and guarded Savannah and Charleston during 1862 until
Sherman invaded Georgia. The 63rd joined Johnston's Army of Tennessee at
Kennesaw Mountain as an infantry regiment. Silas served throughout the war. He
was born in Cherokee County and his mother was a Cherokee indian. Because
their homeland was destroyed by Sherman's Army, Silas moved his family to
Crooked Oak Mountain south of Tuscumbia, AL. His son James Wyley Dobbs married
Tenie Jenie Green daughter of Marcus D. L. Green in the 1880s.
If you have an ancestor who was in the C.S.A. - please considering joining the SCV.
